Lemaxland Tutorial

Create a cobbled path...
Materials required:
- Cereal boxes (or similar cardboard)
- PVA Glue
- Scissors or craft knife
- Poster Paint (black & white)
- Paint brushes or stencil stiff brushes
stepone
Sketch out onto cardboard the layout of your cobbled area, path, road or patio. Join cardboard together if
required, just ensure it’s sturdy as this will become your base.
Using scissors or a craft knife (taking extra care!), cut some cardboard into very random shapes and sizes, trying
not to be too neat! Size your shapes no larger than 2½-3cm as they may appear out of scale against your Lemaxland figurines.

Brush a small area of your base with some PVA glue. Using your fingers or tweezers, affix random pieces
of cardboard shapes to the wet glue area and press firmly. Repeat this until the base is completely covered. Aim to have
even gaps between shapes.
Allow the glue to dry thoroughly before starting the next step.

|
stepthree
Mix together some Black and White paint to cover your base (for our example we used 1 part White to 3 parts Black). Aim for a dark
Charcoal Grey colour and apply a basecoat. Allow to dry for a couple of hours.
Now mix a slightly lighter shade of Grey and apply paint in circular motions using a stiff brush onto your cobbled shapes, whilst avoiding
the gaps in between. Allow to dry completely.
Again, mix another lighter shade of Grey than the last coat and repeat the process. The aim is to create darker edges and a
lighter middle on each cobbled shape to give the appearance of ageing and wear.
Repeat as many steps of Grey shading as necessary, until you are happy with the results. You may
wish to add different colours at this stage too, like
Browns and Greens for example.

|
stepfour
Once the paint is completely dry, add 2 coats of PVA glue to seal your cobbled area. Whilst the first coat of PVA glue is tacky, you may
add some grit/sand for that extra rustic feel too!
Voila! You have an aged cobbled path, ready for your Lemax villagers to walk on!
